Transforming Confederation Park into an Ethereal Winter Wonderland
Limbic Media brought a transformative light experience to Ottawa’s beloved Winterlude festival, creating an immersive nighttime journey that reimagined the winter landscape. Commissioned by Ottawa Tourism, Lumen Eira turned Confederation Park into a mesmerizing realm of light, sound, and ethereal wonder.
From January 31st to February 17th, visitors were invited to explore a magical winter installation that transcended traditional festival experiences. The team crafted a multi-sensory environment that combined innovative lighting technologies with carefully designed soundscapes, transporting park-goers into an enchanting alternate world.
Aurora Tubes attached to lampposts created dynamic light structures across the park, while strategic floodlighting transformed the trees into a mystical Faery Forest. At the heart of the installation, a stunning centerpiece emerged at the park’s fountain – a monumental light sculpture resembling a giant, luminous “fire” constructed from light tubes. The meticulously designed soundscape of ambient sounds and crackling fire was so convincing that some visitors reported feeling warmth radiating from the installation, momentarily forgetting the winter chill around them.
The Limbic Media team approached the Lumen Eira project with passion and precision, dedicating themselves to creating a truly memorable winter experience. From conception to execution, team members were fully committed to bringing this innovative vision to life, providing round-the-clock support throughout the entire installation.
